I found my love for basketball at age 13 in Paramaribo, Suriname. My friends and I were always on the court after school and on weekends, whether at a friend's house or a nearby court.

When I went to college in the Netherlands, I joined a basketball club and played for my first-ever team. I became known for my "killer crossover" and defence. Younger kids often came to me for help, and I discovered a profound joy in teaching them the moves. Watching them succeed in a game after mastering a new skill gave me a feeling I couldn't quite describe.

This feeling inspired me to begin my coaching journey. I started as an assistant coach for an under-16 boys' team while earning my coaching certification. While the training taught me a lot, the most valuable lessons came from working with different kids and discovering how each one learned. The challenge was rewarding, and I loved seeing them finally master the skills they had worked so hard to perfect.
